After two editions in Paris (Espace Pierre Cardin) in March 2006 and April 2007 and an edition in Tunis, in November 2007, the FCCM takes place in Moulins-sur-Allier (France), every year in June, in collaboration with the Centre national du costume de scène (CNCS).

Since the beginning of cinema, costume designers have given life to film directors’ visions. A film’s universe comes alive through the creation of authentic characters, and each has a story to tell. Whether a film is period, fantasy or modern, the costume designer’s integral role remains the same: to serve the story and closely collaborate with the film maker to make the best film possible. These artists have dressed the stars, the supporting roles and the background atmosphere, in each and every film that we love. Each costume in a film reveals the richness and diversity of world cultures; and testifies to the acute power of observation that is the hallmark of every great costume designer.

The FCCM aims to be the premier venue for the industry and the public to discover the profound contribution of cinema costume designers. Through screenings, master classes, exhibits, conferences and panels, the FCCM offers the opportunity to mix and mingle with internationally renowned designers, filmmakers and scholars. We celebrate the costume designers that have created the characters that make movies great.

The Competition presents 9 feature films or documentaries, premiering in France, most of them with no distribution in France, the unique occasion for the audience to discover films they won't see anywhere else. Films from every genre and every continent, cultural and artistic diversity being one of the primary goals of this Festival.
Films in which costumes play a key role, be it a period piece or a contemporary story. Films, which bear witness to the diversity of cultures and human feelings. Not only « costume films »: every film is a “costume film” because costume is the key element in the telling of every story.

Each year, several conferences by specialists and scholars will spotlight a cinema genre or a clothing element with illustrations from well-known and well-loved international films.
